Projects:  Strata

Every road trip my family took ended up being a geological rundown of glacial activity and history of the strata.  Living the life of a Geologist’s son meant that geological sensibilities would be re-enacted in my clay sculptures.  The transformational processes in my clay series, Land Forms, are a condensed way of recreating, in human scale, land formations, gouged by rivers, melted by calderas, or cut by wind.

Land formations cut from rushing water, or carved by cold winds or belched from molten calderas are the geological muses for my clay explorations.  Both living in the western rocky mountain region as well as having a father whose love and profession were geology inform my aesthetic search to relive  sublime geological processes.
